Advanced Open Water
This advanced course allows you to explore new areas of diving such as deep diving, underwater navigation, and advanced buoyancy, offering a more complete and safer experience.
What does the Advanced Open Water course cover?
The Advanced Open Water Dive is a structured training course with five practical dives covering different key aspects of advanced diving. Areas you will explore include:
Deep Diving
It will allow you to dive up to 30 metres, giving you the skills to handle the effects of pressure and depth.
Underwater Navigation
You will learn to use the compass effectively and to orientate yourself underwater, improving your ability to explore.
Advanced Buoyancy
You will refine your buoyancy control, which will help you move more efficiently and comfortably underwater.
These dives will not only allow you to acquire new skills, but will also open the doors to specialties such as night diving, wreck diving, or even search and recovery of objects, increasing the diversity and excitement of each dive.
It is structured in a theoretical part, which will take place online or in person, and another practical part, with five dives in the sea.
Requirements to take the Advanced Open Water Dive (AOWD) course
- Minimum age: 15 years old.
- Maximum depth: 30 metres.
- Experience: OWD.
- Duration: 40 hours.
*Those between the ages of 12 and 15 will be awarded the Junior Advanced Open Water certification and will be limited to a maximum depth of 21 metres.
Adventure dives in the AOWD course
Adventure dives are at the heart of the Advanced Open Water course. In addition to the compulsory deep dives and navigation, you can choose from a range of exciting options, such as:
- Wreck Diving: Discover sunken ships and the marine life that inhabits them.
- Night diving: Experience the sea at its most tranquil and mysterious, observing how marine life changes as night falls.
- Underwater photography: If you’re a photography enthusiast, this module will teach you how to capture stunning underwater images.
